What an insight piece is for
An insight piece is about the category rather than the spreadsheet: what changed in AI Excel tools, and what that changes for the person doing the work. The distinction that carries most of the weight here is between a chatbot that answers questions about a spreadsheet and an agent that executes the change in the file. That second category has its own definition in what a workbook agent is; the pieces in this section deal with what it looks like in practice.
Pieces here are written to be checked later. A claim about where the tools are heading is only worth publishing if it also names what would have to be true for the claim to fail — the 2026 move from conversation to execution being the current example, since it shows up in what the products now do to a file rather than in what their launch posts say.
Where a piece touches Mica specifically, the explanation of the product itself lives in the Mica guides: what it is, how it runs work inside your file, and how data is handled. This section applies that explanation to a trend; it does not re-argue it.
